Experience the seven Elements of Art through vision, hearing and touch. The Elements of Art are building blocks artists use to create works of art. Like a poet combining words and composing a poem, a visual artist employs the Elements of Art when painting a picture, constructing a sculpture or assembling a collage. The Elements of Art are a visual vocabulary artists manipulate to express themselves and make meaningful connections to the world around them. The seven Elements of Art are line, value, shape, form, space, color and texture. Each element is presented in the exhibition with an original work of visual/touch art and an original musical composition recorded for replay by gallery visitors.
It’s Elemental features the collaborative work of husband and wife artists Genie Kell and Nando Ortegón with interpretive musical compositions written and performed by Jeff Leigh. Leigh has written 8 original compositions for the exhibition, one for each of the seven elements with his eighth work aurally interpreting a large work by Kell and Ortegón which features all 7 Elements of Art.
The exhibition also features newly created artwork by blind and visually impaired participants in Lighthouse of Collier programs. Lighthouse of Collier, Inc., offers programs/services, at no charge, to help the blind and visually impaired become independent in Collier County. Lighthouse of Collier promotes the development, implementation and on-going evaluation of programs and services which foster independence and enhance the quality of life for the blind, visually impaired and their caregivers.
