“Tomaso Albertini creates dynamic 3-D art at Naples Art Institute”
WGCU - September 2024

“Intersections” brings together artworks representing past and present eras of art in Naples, according to Frank Verpoorten, executive director and chief curator of the Naples Art Institute. The exhibit deftly weaves together old and new in order to present, as Verpoorten says, “fragments of the origin story of this organization.” It tells a tale of connections among artists, collectors and supporters in the Naples area over the years.

“The establishment of a bricks-and-mortar art center not only gave the Institute a physical presence in the heart of downtown Naples, but also provided the opportunity to begin amassing a permanent collection of paintings and sculpture. A new exhibit at the Institute titled “Intersections” displays some of the works Naples Art has collected over the past 25 years.”

“When the Cat in the Hat is the welcoming committee, you just can’t get into the Watson Gallery fast enough. The Dr. Seuss dean of children’s book characters stands at the door of the Naples Art Institute’s main exhibition room in kid-height cutout form, beckoning like spring’s first robin to draw guests toward the familiar faces and beloved scenes inside.”

The Power of Photography exhibit has been very popular during its stay in Naples, there is still plenty of room in the gallery for you to commune with a single photograph, such as the poignant shot of Anne Frank’s father, the only one of the family to survive the Holocaust and concentration camp, back in their wartime apartment.”
