Naples Art Institute Celebrates 25 Years of its Permanent Collection with “Intersections” Exhibition

Naples, FL - August 28, 2024- Naples Art Institute is proud to announce the upcoming opening of Intersections: 25 Years of the Naples Art Institute Collection. This landmark exhibition honors the institute’s seventy-year journey of artistic excellence and community engagement. After the construction of the current art center in 1998, Naples Art Institute began acquiring works that form the foundation of its permanent collection. This curated showcase, featuring over three hundred artworks, celebrates the rich history of the collection and the individuals who have contributed to its growth.

Intersections is a vibrant tapestry of mediums, including paintings, sculptures, prints, watercolors, photographs, and drawings. The exhibition features works by renowned contemporary artists such as James Rosenquist, national and regional talents like Elsie Dorey Upham, and a variety of self-taught artists and former students. Notable recent additions include evocative photographs by Suzanne Camp Crosby and striking paintings by Reisha Perlmutter and Carmelo Blandino.

This exhibition reflects the historical and contemporary significance of the Naples Art Institute’s collection, showcasing the diverse interests and contributions of the artists, collectors, and founders who have played a pivotal role in establishing and growing the Naples Art Association (now Naples Art Institute) since its founding in 1954.

“We are thrilled to present Intersections, a celebration of the artists and supporters who have shaped our collection over the past twenty-five years,” said Frank Verpoorten, Executive Director and Chief Curator of Naples Art Institute. “This exhibition not only honors our past but also looks to the future, underscoring our ongoing commitment to promoting contemporary art and enriching our collection.”

Admission to Intersections is complimentary for Collier County residents (with proof of residence), children, and NARM members. For all others, the admission cost is $10. The exhibition will be on view from August 31 through October 27. For more information, please visit naplesart.org.
