Naples Art is raising the bar for their annual Scene to be Seen runway art show with the addition of a VIP gala dinner, live auction & online auction to this signature, cutting-edge event. The 5th annual Scene to be Seen takes place Saturday, February 12, at Grey Oaks Country Club.
Scene to be Seen was started by Naples Art in 2017 as a way to offer artists and designers the opportunity to showcase their talents in a captivating and imaginative runway fashion show. It provides artists exposure while participating in a major fundraising event for Naples Art. Thirteen artists will present 38 inventive and enthralling looks that embody the concept of wearable art. Twelve of the artists are from Southwest Florida and one artist is from Nayarit, Mexico.
Each year Naples Art accepts entries through a blind submission process. Judges look for out-of-the-box, one-of-a-kind concepts. This year’s original runway creations range in concept and medium from porcelain-cast bodices, to hand-painted parachute dresses, gowns with fresh flower appliqued, upcycled foil embellishments, paper origami, and original watercolor paintings applied to silk satin.
“Scene to be Seen is bolder and more creative than your typical ready-to-wear runway fashion show,” says Rich Cacace, Scene to be Seen’s producer and creative director. “Our challenge is to ‘WOW!’ our audience. We look for originality, creativity, artistry, complexity of workmanship and how well the piece will present itself on the runway.”
The evening will also include an opening cocktail reception and an after party with models, adorned in the couture creations, mingling with guests.
For those who don’t get to see the runway show live, the designs will be on view at Naples Art from February 19 – March 5 in an exhibition titled Scene to be Seen: Creations from the Runway 2022.
Proceeds from Scene to be Seen support Naples Art’s exhibitions and educational programs for the SWFL community, including programming for area underprivileged children aimed at inclusion and enrichment through the visual arts.
